International Gansey Day at Sheringham Museum

Sheringham Museum’s Textile Team, together with the East Anglia Gansey Group, invite you to celebrate International Gansey Day — a special one-day event exploring the history, craft, and future of these iconic fisherman’s sweaters.

Throughout the day, you can enjoy:

• 11am Talk: Discover the museum’s gansey charting project.

• 2pm Workshop: Learn the art of gansey knitting with Rita Taylor.

• Live knitting demonstrations showcasing traditional techniques.

• The Gansey of Inclusivity – exploring how this heritage craft connects communities today.

🎟 Entry is included within standard Museum admission.

No booking required – talks and workshops are first-come, first-served. Refreshments available.
